# §1792. Mutiny and riot prohibited


[Whoever](/usc/18/921.md?p=a-1) instigates, connives, willfully attempts to cause, assists, or conspires to cause any mutiny or [riot](/usc/18/2102.md?p=a), at any Federal penal, detention, or correctional facility, shall be imprisoned not more than ten years or fined under this title, or both.

### Effective Date of 1986 Amendment

Pub. L. 99–646, § 53(b), Nov. 10, 1986, 100 Stat. 3607, provided that: “The amendment made by this section [amending this section] shall take effect 30 days after the enactment of this Act [Nov. 10, 1986].”
