# §1161. Application of Indian liquor laws


The provisions of sections [1154](/usc/18/1154.md), [1156](/usc/18/1156.md), [3113](/usc/18/3113.md), [3488](/usc/18/3488.md), and [3669](/usc/18/3669.md), of this title, shall not apply within any area that is not [Indian country](/usc/18/2266.md?p=4), nor to any act or transaction within any area of [Indian country](/usc/18/2266.md?p=4) provided such act or transaction is in conformity both with the laws of the [State](/usc/18/31.md?p=a-9) in which such act or transaction occurs and with an ordinance duly adopted by the tribe having jurisdiction over such area of [Indian country](/usc/18/2266.md?p=4), certified by the Secretary of the Interior, and published in the Federal Register.
