# §916i. Taking of whales for biological experiments


Nothing contained in this subchapter shall prevent the [taking](/usc/16/3102.md?p=18) of whales and the conducting of biological experiments at any time for purposes of scientific investigation in accordance with scientific permits and regulations issued by the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Commerce or shall prevent the [Commission](/usc/16/544.md?p=c) from discharging its duties as prescribed by the convention.
