# §7911. Definitions


In this subchapter:

- (1) **Federal land—** The term “Federal land” means—
  - (A) any land in the National Forest System (as defined in [section 1609(a) of this title](/usc/16/1609.md?p=a)) that is administered by the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Agriculture, acting through the Chief of the Forest Service; and
  - (B) [public lands](/usc/16/620e.md?p=7) (as defined in [section 1702 of title 43](/usc/43/1702.md)), the surface of which is administered by the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1), acting through the Director of the Bureau of Land Management.
- (2) **Secretary concerned—** The term “Secretary concerned” means—
  - (A) the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Agriculture, with respect to land described in [paragraph (1)(A)](#1-A); and
  - (B) the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1), with respect to land described in [paragraph (1)(B)](#1-B).
