# §755. Salmon-cultural stations; establishment; expenditure of funds


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Commerce is authorized and directed to establish one or more salmon-cultural stations in the Columbia River Basin in each of the [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r) of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho. Any sums appropriated for the purpose of establishing such stations may be expended, and such stations shall be established, operated and maintained, in accordance with the provisions of the Act entitled “An Act to provide for a five-year construction and maintenance [program](/usc/16/460ss–6.md?p=1) for the United States Bureau of [Fisheries](/usc/16/1383a.md?p=o-1)”, approved May 21, 1930, ch. 306, 46 Stat. 371, insofar as the provisions of such Act are not inconsistent with the provisions of this section and sections [756](/usc/16/756.md) and [757](/usc/16/757.md) of this title.


# §756. Investigations, surveys, and experiments; construction and installation of conservation devices, etc.


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Commerce is further authorized and directed (1) to conduct such investigations, and such engineering and biological surveys and experiments, as may be necessary to direct and facilitate [conservation](/usc/16/6456.md?p=2) of the [fishery](/usc/16/1383a.md?p=o-1) [resources](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=8) of the Columbia River and its tributaries; (2) to construct and install devices in the Columbia River Basin for the improvement of feeding and spawning conditions for fish, for the protection of migratory fish from irrigation [projects](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4), and for facilitating free migration of fish over obstructions; and (3) to perform all other activities necessary for the [conservation](/usc/16/6456.md?p=2) of fish in the Columbia River Basin in accordance with law.


# §757. Utilization of State services; expenditure of funds


In carrying out the authorizations and duties imposed by [section 756 of this title](/usc/16/756.md), the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of Commerce is authorized to utilize the facilities and services of the agencies of the [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r) of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho responsible for the [conservation](/usc/16/6456.md?p=2) of the fish and wildlife [resources](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=8) in such [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r), under the terms of agreements entered into between the United States and these [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r), without regard to the provisions of [section 6101 of title 41](/usc/41/6101.md), and [funds](/usc/16/1421h.md?p=2) appropriated to carry out the purposes of [sections 755 to 757](/usc/16/755..757.md) of this title may be expended for the construction of facilities on and the improvement of lands not owned or controlled by the United States: Provided, That the appropriate agency of the [State](/usc/16/6456.md?p=2) wherein such construction or improvement is to be carried on first shall have obtained without cost to the United States the necessary title to, interest therein, rights-of-way over, or licenses covering the use of such lands.
