# §7405. Inspections


The [Secretary](/usc/16/7402.md?p=7), and the [Secretary](/usc/16/7402.md?p=7) of the department in which the Coast Guard is operating, shall conduct foreign [vessel](/usc/16/7402.md?p=8) inspections in ports subject to the jurisdiction of the United States as necessary to achieve the purposes of the [Agreement](/usc/16/7402.md?p=1) and this chapter. If, following an inspection, the [Secretary](/usc/16/7402.md?p=7) has reasonable grounds to believe that a foreign [vessel](/usc/16/7402.md?p=8) has engaged in [IUU fishing](/usc/16/7402.md?p=2) or [fishing](/usc/16/7402.md?p=10)-related activities in support of such [fishing](/usc/16/7402.md?p=10), the [Secretary](/usc/16/7402.md?p=7) may [take](/usc/16/3102.md?p=18) enforcement action under this chapter or other applicable law, and shall deny the [vessel](/usc/16/7402.md?p=8) the use of port services, in accordance with [section 7404 of this title](/usc/16/7404.md).
