# §6802. Recreation fee authority

- (a) **Authority of Secretary—** Beginning in fiscal year 2005 and thereafter, the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may establish, modify, charge, and collect [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) at [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) as provided for in this section.
- (b) **Basis for recreation fees—** [Recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) shall be established in a manner consistent with the following criteria:
  - (1) The amount of the [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) shall be commensurate with the benefits and services provided to the visitor.
  - (2) The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall consider the aggregate effect of [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) on recreation users and [recreation service providers](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9).
  - (3) The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall consider comparable fees charged elsewhere and by other public agencies and by nearby private sector operators.
  - (4) The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall consider the public policy or management objectives served by the [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7).
  - (5) The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall obtain input from the appropriate Recreation Resource [Advisory Committee](/usc/16/698u–1.md?p=1), as provided in [section 6803(d) of this title](/usc/16/6803.md?p=d).
  - (6) The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall consider such other factors or criteria as determined appropriate by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11).
- (c) **Special considerations—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall establish the minimum number of [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) and shall avoid the collection of multiple or layered [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) for similar uses, activities, or programs.
- (d) **Limitations on recreation fees—**
  - (1) **Prohibition on fees for certain activities or services—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall not charge any [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15) or [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2) for [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) administered by the Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service, or the Bureau of Reclamation under this chapter for any of the following:
    - (A) Solely for parking, undesignated parking, or picnicking along roads or trailsides.
    - (B) For general access unless specifically authorized under this section.
    - (C) For dispersed [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) with low or no investment unless specifically authorized under this section.
    - (D) For [persons](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) who are driving through, walking through, boating through, horseback riding through, or hiking through [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) without using the facilities and services.
    - (E) For camping at undeveloped sites that do not provide a minimum number of facilities and services as described in [subsection (g)(2)(A)](#g-2-A).
    - (F) For use of overlooks or scenic pullouts.
    - (G) For travel by private, noncommercial vehicle over any national parkway or any road or highway established as a part of the Federal-aid System, as defined in [section 101 of title 23](/usc/23/101.md),[^1] which is commonly used by the public as a means of travel between two places either or both of which are outside any [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) at which [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) are charged under this chapter.
    - (H) For travel by private, noncommercial vehicle, boat, or aircraft over any road or highway, waterway, or airway to any land in which such [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) has any property right if such land is within any [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) at which [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) are charged under this chapter.
    - (I) For any [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) who has a right of access for hunting or fishing privileges under a specific provision of law or treaty.
    - (J) For any [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) who is engaged in the conduct of official Federal, [State](/usc/16/6801.md?p=16), Tribal, or local government business.
    - (K) For special attention or extra services necessary to meet the needs of the disabled.
  - (2) **Relation to fees for use of highways or roads—** An entity that pays a [special recreation permit fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=14) or similar permit fee shall not be subject to a road cost-sharing fee or a fee for the use of highways or roads that are open to private, noncommercial use within the boundaries of any Federal recreational lands or waters, as authorized under [section 537 of this title](/usc/16/537.md).
  - (3) **Prohibition on fees for certain persons or places—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall not charge an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1) or [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15) for the following:
    - (A) Any [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) under 16 years of age.
    - (B) Outings conducted for noncommercial educational purposes by schools or bona fide academic institutions.
    - (C) The U.S.S. Arizona [Memorial](/usc/16/450ss–1.md?p=2), Independence National Historical [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), any [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) System within the District of Columbia, or Arlington House-Robert E. Lee National [Memorial](/usc/16/450ss–1.md?p=2).
    - (D) The Flight 93 National [Memorial](/usc/16/450ss–1.md?p=2).
    - (E) Entrance on other routes into the Great Smoky Mountains National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) or any part thereof unless fees are charged for entrance into that [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) on main highways and thoroughfares.
    - (F) Entrance on [units](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) System containing deed restrictions on charging fees.
    - (G) An [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) or [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) covered under section 203 of the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (Public Law 96–487; [16 U.S.C. 410hh–2](/usc/16/410hh–2.md)), with the exception of Denali National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) and [Preserve](/usc/16/698u–1.md?p=2).
    - (H) A [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the National Wildlife Refuge System created, expanded, or modified by the Alaska National Interest Lands Conservation Act (Public Law 96–487).
    - (I) Any [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) who visits a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) under the jurisdiction of the United States [Fish and Wildlife](/usc/16/3102.md?p=17) Service and who has been issued a valid migratory bird hunting and conservation stamp issued under [section 718b of this title](/usc/16/718b.md).
    - (J) Any [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) engaged in a nonrecreational activity authorized under a valid permit issued under any other Act, including a valid grazing permit.
  - (4) **No restriction on recreation opportunities—** Nothing in this chapter shall limit the use of recreation opportunities only to [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) designated for collection of [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7).
- (e) **Entrance fee—**
  - (1) **Authorized sites for entrance fees—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) of the Interior may charge an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1) for a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) System, including a national monument administered by the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service, or for a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the National Wildlife Refuge System.
  - (2) **Prohibited sites—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall not charge an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1) for [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) managed by the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, or the Forest Service.
- (f) **Standard amenity recreation fee—** Except as limited by [subsection (d)](#d), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may charge a [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15) for [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Land Management, the Bureau of Reclamation, or the Forest Service, but only at the following:
  - (1) A National Conservation [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
  - (2) A National Volcanic Monument.
  - (3) A destination visitor or interpretive center that provides a broad range of interpretive services, programs, and media.
  - (4) An [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A)—
    - (A) that provides significant opportunities for outdoor recreation;
    - (B) that has substantial Federal investments;
    - (C) where fees can be efficiently collected; and
    - (D) that contains all of the following amenities:
      - (i) Designated developed parking.
      - (ii) A permanent toilet facility.
      - (iii) A permanent trash receptacle.
      - (iv) Interpretive sign, exhibit, or kiosk.
      - (v) Picnic tables.
      - (vi) Security services.
- (g) **Expanded amenity recreation fee—**
  - (1) **NPS and USFWS authority—** Except as limited by [subsection (d)](#d), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) of the Interior may charge an [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2), either in [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1) or by itself, at [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) under the jurisdiction of the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service or the United States [Fish and Wildlife](/usc/16/3102.md?p=17) Service when the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) of the Interior determines that the visitor uses a specific or specialized facility, equipment, or service.
  - (2) **Other Federal land management agencies—** Except as limited by [subsection (d)](#d), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may charge an [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2), either in [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to a standard amenity fee or by itself, at [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) under the jurisdiction of the Forest Service, the Bureau of Land Management, or the Bureau of Reclamation, but only for the following facilities or services:
    - (A) Use of developed campgrounds that provide at least a majority of the following:
      - (i) Tent or trailer spaces.
      - (ii) Picnic tables.
      - (iii) Drinking water.
      - (iv) Access roads.
      - (v) The collection of the fee by an employee or agent of the [Federal land management agency](/usc/16/6801.md?p=3).
      - (vi) Reasonable visitor protection.
      - (vii) Refuse containers.
      - (viii) Toilet facilities.
      - (ix) Simple devices for containing a campfire.
    - (B) Use of highly developed boat launches with specialized facilities or services such as mechanical or hydraulic boat lifts or facilities, multi-lane paved ramps, paved parking, restrooms and other improvements such as boarding floats, loading ramps, or fish cleaning stations.
    - (C) Rental of cabins, boats, stock animals, lookouts, historic structures, group day-use or overnight sites, audio tour devices, portable sanitation devices, binoculars or other equipment.
    - (D) Use of hookups for electricity, cable, or sewer.
    - (E) Use of sanitary dump stations.
    - (F) Participation in an enhanced interpretive program or special tour.
    - (G) Use of reservation services.
    - (H) Use of transportation services.
    - (I) Use of [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) where emergency medical or first-aid services are administered from facilities staffed by public employees or employees under a contract or reciprocal agreement with the Federal Government.
    - (J) Use of developed swimming sites that provide at least a majority of the following:
      - (i) Bathhouse with showers and flush toilets.
      - (ii) Refuse containers.
      - (iii) Picnic [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
      - (iv) Paved parking.
      - (v) Attendants, including lifeguards.
      - (vi) Floats encompassing the swimming [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
      - (vii) Swimming deck.
- (h) **Special recreation permits and fees—**
  - (1) **Special recreation permits—**
    - (A) **Applications—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11)—
      - (i) may develop and make available to the public an application to obtain a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in clause (i) of [section 6801(13)(A) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A); and
      - (ii) shall develop and make available to the public an application to obtain a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in each of clauses (ii) through (iv) of [section 6801(13)(A) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A).
    - (B) **Issuance of permits—** On review of a completed application developed under [subparagraph (A)](#h-1-A), as applicable, and a determination by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) that the applicant is eligible for the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may issue to the applicant a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A), subject to any terms and conditions that are determined to be necessary by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11).
    - (C) **Incidental sales—** A [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) issued under this paragraph may include an authorization for sales that are incidental in nature to the permitted use of the [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4), except where otherwise prohibited by law.
  - (2) **Special recreation permit fees—**
    - (A) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may charge a [special recreation permit fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=14) for the issuance of a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) in accordance with this paragraph.
    - (B) **Predetermined special recreation permit fees—**
      - (i) **In general—** For purposes of subparagraphs (D) and (E) of this paragraph, the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall establish and may charge a predetermined fee, described in clause (ii) of this subparagraph, for a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in clause (iii) or (iv) of [section 6801(13)(A) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) for a specific type of use on a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4), consistent with the criteria set forth in clause (iii) of this subparagraph.
      - (ii) **Type of fee—** A predetermined fee described in [clause (i)](#h-2-B-i) shall be—
        - (I) a fixed fee that is assessed per [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A), including a fee with an associated size limitation or other criteria as determined to be appropriate by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11); or
        - (II) an amount assessed per visitor-use day.
      - (iii) **Criteria—** A predetermined fee under [clause (i)](#h-2-B-i) shall—
        - (I) have been established before January 4, 2025;
        - (II) be established after January 4, 2025, in accordance with [subsection (b)](#b);
        - (III)
          - (aa) be established after January 4, 2025; and
          - (bb) be comparable to an amount described in subparagraph [(D)(ii)](#h-2-D-ii) or [(E)(ii)](#h-2-E-ii), as applicable; or
        - (IV) beginning on the date that is 2 years after January 4, 2025, be $6 per visitor-use day in instances in which the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) has not established a predetermined fee under subclause [(I)](#h-2-B-iii-I), [(II)](#h-2-B-iii-II), or [(III)](#h-2-B-iii-III).
    - (C) **Calculation of fees for specialized recreational uses and large-group activities or events—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may, at the discretion of the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11), establish and charge a fee for a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in clause (i) or (ii) of [section 6801(13)(A) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A).
    - (D) **Calculation of fees for single organized group recreation activities or events, competitive events, and certain recurring organized group recreation activities—** If the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) elects to charge a fee for a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in [section 6801(13)(A)(iii) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A-iii), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall charge the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9), based on the election of the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9)—
      - (i) the applicable predetermined fee established under [subparagraph (B)](#h-2-B); or
      - (ii) an amount equal to a percentage of, to be determined by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11), but to not to exceed 5 percent of, adjusted gross receipts calculated under [subparagraph (F)](#h-2-F).
    - (E) **Calculation of fees for temporary permits and long-term permits—** Subject to [subparagraph (G)](#h-2-G), if the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) elects to charge a fee for a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in [section 6801(13)(A)(iv) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A-iv), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall charge the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9), based on the election of the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9)—
      - (i) the applicable predetermined fee established under [subparagraph (B)](#h-2-B); or
      - (ii) an amount equal to a percentage of, to be determined by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11), but not to exceed 3 percent of, adjusted gross receipts calculated under [subparagraph (F)](#h-2-F).
    - (F) **Adjusted gross receipts—** For the purposes of subparagraphs [(D)(ii)](#h-2-D-ii) and [(E)(ii)](#h-2-E-ii), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall calculate the adjusted gross receipts collected for each trip or event authorized under a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A), using either of the following calculations, based on the election of the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9):
      - (i) The sum of—
        - (I) the product obtained by multiplying—
          - (aa) the general amount paid by participants of the trip or event to the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) for the applicable trip or event (excluding amounts related to goods, souvenirs, merchandise, gear, and additional food provided or sold by the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9)); and
          - (bb) the quotient obtained by dividing—
            - (AA) the number of days of the trip or event that occurred on [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A), rounded to the nearest whole day; by
            - (BB) the total number of days of the trip or event; and
        - (II) the amount of any additional revenue received by the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) for an add-on activity or an optional excursion that occurred on the [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A).
      - (ii) The difference between—
        - (I) the total cost paid by the participants of the trip or event for the trip or event to the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9), including any additional revenue received by the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) for an add-on activity or an optional excursion that occurred on the [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A); and
        - (II) the sum of—
          - (aa) the amount of any revenues from goods, souvenirs, merchandise, gear, and additional food provided or sold by the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) to the participants of the applicable trip or event;
          - (bb) the amount of any costs or revenues from services and activities provided or sold by the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) to the participants of the trip or event that occurred in a location other than the [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) (including costs for travel and lodging outside the [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A)); and
          - (cc) the amount of any revenues from any service provided by a [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) for an activity on [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) that is not covered by the [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A).
    - (G) **Exception—** Notwithstanding [subparagraph (E)](#h-2-E), the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) may charge a [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) a minimum annual fee for a [special recreation permit](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A) described in [section 6801(13)(A)(iv) of this title](/usc/16/6801.md?p=13-A-iv).
    - (H) **Savings clauses—**
      - (i) **Effect—** Nothing in this paragraph affects any fee for—
        - (I) a concession contract administered by the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service or the United States [Fish and Wildlife](/usc/16/3102.md?p=17) Service for the provision of accommodations, facilities, or services; or
        - (II) a commercial use authorization or [special use permit](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=13) for use of [Federal recreational lands and waters](/usc/16/6801.md?p=4) managed by the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service.
      - (ii) **Cost recovery—** Nothing in this paragraph affects the ability of the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) to recover any administrative costs under [section 8549 of this title](/usc/16/8549.md).
      - (iii) **Special recreation permit fees and other recreation fees—** The collection of a [special recreation permit fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=14) under this paragraph shall not affect the authority of the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) to collect an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1), a [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15), or an [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2) authorized under subsections [(e)](#e), [(f)](#f), and [(g)](#g).
- (i) **Disclosure of recreation fees and use of recreation fees—**
  - (1) **Notice of entrance fees, standard amenity recreation fees, expanded amenity recreation fees, and available recreation passes—**
    - (A) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall post clear notice of any [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1), [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15), [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2), and available [recreation passes](/usc/16/6801.md?p=8)—
      - (i) at appropriate locations in each [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) of Federal recreational land and waters at which an [entrance fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1), [standard amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15), or [expanded amenity recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2) is charged; and
      - (ii) on the appropriate website for such [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
    - (B) **Publications—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall include in publications distributed at a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) or described in [subparagraph (A)](#i-1-A) the notice described in that subparagraph.
  - (2) **Notice of uses of recreation fees—** Beginning on January 1, 2026, the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall annually post, at the location at which a [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) described in [paragraph (1)(A)](#i-1-A) is collected, clear notice of—
    - (A) the total [recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) collected during each of the 2 preceding fiscal years at the respective [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) of the [Federal land management agency](/usc/16/6801.md?p=3); and
    - (B) each use during the preceding fiscal year of the applicable [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) or [recreation pass](/usc/16/6801.md?p=8) revenues collected under this section.
  - (3) **Notice of recreation fee projects—** To the extent practicable, the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall post clear notice at the location at which work is performed using [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) and [recreation pass](/usc/16/6801.md?p=8) revenues collected under this section.
  - (4) **Centralized reporting on agency websites—**
    - (A) **In general—** Not later than January 1, 2025, and not later than 60 days after the beginning of each fiscal year thereafter, the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) shall post on the website of the applicable [Federal land management agency](/usc/16/6801.md?p=3) a searchable list of each use during the preceding fiscal year of the [recreation fee](/usc/16/6801.md?p=7) or [recreation pass](/usc/16/6801.md?p=8) revenues collected under this section.
    - (B) **List components—** The list required under [subparagraph (A)](#i-4-A) shall include, with respect to each use described in that subparagraph—
      - (i) a title and description of the overall [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4);
      - (ii) a title and description for each component of the [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4);
      - (iii) the location of the [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4); and
      - (iv) the amount obligated for the [project](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4).
  - (5) **Notice to customers—** A [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) may inform a customer of the [recreation service provider](/usc/16/6801.md?p=9) of any fee charged by the [Secretary](/usc/16/6801.md?p=11) under this section.
- (j) **Online payments—**
  - (1) **In general—** In [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to providing onsite payment methods, the [Secretaries](/usc/16/6801.md?p=10) may collect payment online for—
    - (A) [entrance fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=1) under [subsection (e)](#e);
    - (B) [standard amenity recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=15) under [subsection (f)](#f);
    - (C) [expanded amenity recreation fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=2) under [subsection (g)](#g); and
    - (D) [special recreation permit fees](/usc/16/6801.md?p=14).
  - (2) **Distribution of online payments—** An online payment collected under [paragraph (1)](#j-1) that is associated with a specific [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) or [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) of a [Federal land management agency](/usc/16/6801.md?p=3) shall be distributed in accordance with [section 6804(c) of this title](/usc/16/6804.md?p=c).

Pub. L. 100–55, June 19, 1987, 101 Stat. 371, provided: “That, notwithstanding any other provision of law, after the date of enactment of this Act [June 19, 1987], the Secretary of the Interior shall not charge any entrance or admission fee at the Statue of Liberty National Monument, New Jersey and New York.”
