# §609. Permits to cut and remove timber; citizens of Modoc County, California


It shall be lawful for the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior to grant permits under the provisions of [section 607 of this title](/usc/16/607.md), to citizens of Modoc County, California, to cut timber in the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Nevada for agricultural, mining, or other domestic purposes, and to remove the timber so cut to Modoc County, [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of California.
