# §583k–4. Cooperative agreements

- (a) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=6) may enter into a cooperative agreement with any [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a), tribal, local governmental, and private entity to carry out this subchapter.
- (b) **Contents—** Cooperative agreements authorized under this section may—
  - (1) improve [trail maintenance](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=8) in a [priority area](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=5);
  - (2) implement the [strategy](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=7); or
  - (3) advance [trail maintenance](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=8) in a manner deemed appropriate by the [Secretary](/usc/16/583k–1.md?p=6).
