# §580n. Protection and development of forest or other vegetative cover; establishment and maintenance of conservation measures; coordination of programs and policies


In order to carry out the national policy declared in [section 580m of this title](/usc/16/580m.md), the Chief of Engineers, under the supervision of the [Secretary](/usc/16/580p.md?p=3) of the Army, shall provide for the protection and development of forest or other vegetative cover and the establishment and maintenance of other conservation measures on reservoir [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) under his jurisdiction, so as to yield the maximum benefit and otherwise improve such [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A). Programs and policies developed pursuant to the preceding sentence shall be coordinated with the [Secretary](/usc/16/580p.md?p=3) of Agriculture, and with appropriate [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) conservation agencies.
