# §544j. Old Columbia River Highway


The Oregon Department of Transportation shall, in consultation with the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) and the [Commission](/usc/16/544.md?p=c), the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon and the [counties](/usc/16/544.md?p=d) and cities in which the Old Columbia River Highway is located, prepare a program and undertake efforts to [preserve](/usc/16/698u–1.md?p=2) and restore the continuity and historic integrity of the remaining segments of the Old Columbia River Highway for public use as a Historic Road, including recreation trails to connect intact and usable segments.
