# §541h. Cooperation with State of Oregon in administration and protection of lands; civil and criminal jurisdiction; power of taxation


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) shall cooperate with the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon and political [subdivisions](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof in the administration of the [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) and in the administration and protection of lands within and adjacent to the [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) owned or controlled by the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) or political [subdivisions](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof. Nothing in this subchapter shall deprive the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon or any political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof of its right to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within the [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) consistent with the provisions of this subchapter, or of its right to tax [persons](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b), corporations, franchises or other non-Federal property, in or on the lands or waters within the [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
