# §460z. Establishment


In order to provide for the public outdoor recreation use and enjoyment of certain ocean shorelines and dunes, forested [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A), fresh water lakes, and recreational facilities in the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon by present and future generations and the conservation of scenic, scientific, historic, and other values contributing to public enjoyment of such lands and waters, there is hereby established, subject to valid existing rights, the Oregon Dunes National Recreation [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) (hereinafter referred to as the “recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A)”).
