# §460z–12. Federal-State cooperation


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) shall cooperate with the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon or any political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof in the administration of the recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) and in the administration and protection of lands within or adjacent to the recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) owned or controlled by the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) or political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) there. Nothing in this subchapter shall deprive the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon or any political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof of its right to exercise civil and criminal jurisdiction within the recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) consistent with this subchapter, or of its right to tax [persons](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b), corporations, franchises, or other non-Federal property, including mineral or other interests, in or on lands or waters within the recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
