# §460y. Establishment; boundaries


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior (hereinafter referred to as the “[Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1)”) is hereby authorized and directed, after compliance with sections [460y–2](/usc/16/460y–2.md) and [460y–3](/usc/16/460y–3.md) of this title, to establish, within the boundaries described in [section 460y–8 of this title](/usc/16/460y–8.md), the King Range National Conservation [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) in the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of California (hereinafter referred to as the “[Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A)”), and to consolidate and manage the [public lands](/usc/16/620e.md?p=7) in the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) with the purpose of conserving and developing, for the use and benefit of the people of the United States, the lands and other resources therein under a program of multiple usage and of sustained yield.
