# §460nnn–91. Wildlands Juniper Management Area

- (a) **Establishment—** To further the purposes of [section 460nnn–23(c) of this title](/usc/16/460nnn–23.md?p=c), the [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) shall establish a special management [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) consisting of certain [Federal lands](/usc/16/620e.md?p=2) in the [Cooperative Management and Protection Area](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=3), as depicted on the [map](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=1) referred to in [section 460nnn–11(a) of this title](/usc/16/460nnn–11.md?p=a), which shall be known as the Wildlands Juniper Management [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A).
- (b) **Management—** Special management practices shall be adopted for the Wildlands Juniper Management [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) for the purposes of experimentation, education, interpretation, and demonstration of active and passive management intended to restore the historic fire regime and [native](/usc/16/3102.md?p=16) vegetation communities on Steens Mountain.
- (c) **Authorization of appropriations—** In [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to the authorization of appropriations in [section 460nnn–121 of this title](/usc/16/460nnn–121.md), there is authorized to be appropriated $5,000,000 to carry out this part and [section 460nnn–23(c) of this title](/usc/16/460nnn–23.md?p=c) regarding juniper management in the [Cooperative Management and Protection Area](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=3).
