# §460nnn–82. Treatment of State lands and mineral interests

- (a) **Acquisition required—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) shall [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1), for approximately equal value and as agreed to by the [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) and the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Oregon, lands and interests in lands owned by the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) within the boundaries of the mineral withdrawal [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) designated pursuant to [section 460nnn–81 of this title](/usc/16/460nnn–81.md).
- (b) **Acquisition methods—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) shall [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) such [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) lands and interests in lands in exchange for—
  - (1) [Federal lands](/usc/16/620e.md?p=2) or Federal mineral interests that are outside the boundaries of the mineral withdrawal [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A);
  - (2) a monetary payment to the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a); or
  - (3) a combination of a conveyance under [paragraph (1)](#b-1) and a monetary payment under [paragraph (2)](#b-2).
