# §460nnn–53. Science committee


The [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) shall appoint, as needed or at the request of the [advisory council](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=1), a team of respected, knowledgeable, and diverse scientists to provide advice on questions relating to the management of the [Cooperative Management and Protection Area](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=3) to the [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) and the [advisory council](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=1). The [Secretary](/usc/16/460iii–1.md?p=1) shall seek the advice of the [advisory council](/usc/16/460nnn.md?p=1) in making these appointments.
