# §460n. Administration


In recognition of the national significance of the Lake Mead National Recreation [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A), in the [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r) of Arizona and Nevada, and in order to establish a more adequate basis for effective administration of such [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) for the public benefit, the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior hereafter may exercise the functions and carry out the activities prescribed by this subchapter.
