# §460n–4. Hunting, fishing and trapping


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior shall permit hunting, fishing, and trapping on the lands and waters under his jurisdiction within the recreation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations of the United States and the respective [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r): Provided, That the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1), after consultation with the respective [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) fish and game [commissions](/usc/16/544.md?p=c), may issue regulations designating zones where and establishing periods when no hunting, fishing, or trapping shall be permitted for reasons of public safety, administration, or public use and enjoyment.
