# §459f–3. Establishment of Seashore; notice in Federal Register


When the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) determines that land, water [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A), or interests therein within the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) generally depicted on the [map](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=1) referred to in [section 459f of this title](/usc/16/459f.md) are owned or have been acquired by the United States in sufficient quantities to provide an administrable [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4), he shall declare the establishment of the Assateague Island National Seashore by publication of notice thereof in the Federal Register. Such notice shall contain a refined description or [map](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=1) of the boundaries of the seashore as the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) may find desirable, and the exterior boundaries shall encompass an [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) as nearly as practicable identical to the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) described in [section 459f of this title](/usc/16/459f.md).
