# §450ii–3. Survey and report of mineral value


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized and directed, through the United States Bureau of Mines, the United States Geological Survey, and the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service, to cause a survey to be made of the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) within the revised boundaries of the Joshua Tree National Monument with a view to determining to what extent the said [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) is more valuable for minerals than for the National Monument purposes for which it was created. Report of said survey shall be filed with the President of the United States Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives on or before February 1, 1951.
