# §430h–11. Acquisition of property

- (a) **Pemberton’s Headquarters—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized to [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) the properties described in [section 430h–10 of this title](/usc/16/430h–10.md) and [subsection (b)](#b) by purchase, donation, or exchange, except that each property may only be acquired with the consent of the [owner](/usc/16/429b–3.md?p=4) thereof.
- (b) **Parking—** The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) is also authorized to [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) not more than one acre of land, or interest therein, adjacent to or near Pemberton’s Headquarters for the purpose of providing parking and other facilities related to the operation of Pemberton’s Headquarters. Upon the [acquisition](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) of the property referenced in this subsection, the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) shall add the property to Vicksburg National Military [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) and shall modify the boundaries of the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) to reflect its inclusion.
