# §430aa. Pea Ridge National Military Park; establishment


When not less than one thousand two hundred acres of the non-[Federal lands](/usc/16/620e.md?p=2) hereinafter described (together with improvements thereon) and known as the Pea Ridge Battlefield, near Bentonville, Arkansas, shall have been acquired and transferred free and clear of all encumbrances to the United States without expense to the Federal Government, such [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) shall be, and are hereby, dedicated and set apart as a [unit](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=4) of the [National Park](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=5) [System](/usc/16/668ee.md?p=14) for the benefit and enjoyment of the people of the United States, under the name of the Pea Ridge National Military [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3).


# §430bb. Determination of desirable areas


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized and directed to make an examination of the Pea Ridge Battlefield with a view to determining the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) or [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) thereof deemed desirable for inclusion in the Pea Ridge National Military [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) and which—except for not more than twenty acres of any other lands adjacent to such battlefield found by the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) to be necessary to carry out the provisions of [sections 430aa to 430ee](/usc/16/430aa..430ee.md) of this title—lie within the lands particularly described as follows: sections [17](/usc/16/17.md), [18](/usc/16/18.md), 19, 20, 29, [30](/usc/16/30.md), [31](/usc/16/31.md), [32](/usc/16/32.md), and [33](/usc/16/33.md), all township 21 north, range 28 west, Fifth principal meridian; sections [4](/usc/16/4.md), [5](/usc/16/5.md), [6](/usc/16/6.md), [7](/usc/16/7.md), and [8](/usc/16/8.md), all township 20 north, range 28 west, Fifth principal meridian; sections [13](/usc/16/13.md), [14](/usc/16/14.md), 20, [21](/usc/16/21.md), [22](/usc/16/22.md), [23](/usc/16/23.md), [24](/usc/16/24.md), [25](/usc/16/25.md), [26](/usc/16/26.md), 27, 28, 29, [31](/usc/16/31.md), [32](/usc/16/32.md), [33](/usc/16/33.md), [34](/usc/16/34.md), [35](/usc/16/35.md), and [36](/usc/16/36.md), all township 21 north, range 29 west, Fifth principal meridian; and sections [1](/usc/16/1.md), [2](/usc/16/2.md), [3](/usc/16/3.md), [4](/usc/16/4.md), [5](/usc/16/5.md), [6](/usc/16/6.md), [7](/usc/16/7.md), [8](/usc/16/8.md), [9](/usc/16/9.md), [10](/usc/16/10.md), [11](/usc/16/11.md), and [12](/usc/16/12.md), all township 20 north, range 29 west, Fifth principal meridian.


# §430cc. Administration, protection, and development; improvements

- (a) The [National Park](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=5) Service under the direction of the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior, shall administer, protect, and develop the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), subject to the provisions of the Act entitled “An Act to establish a [National Park](/usc/16/410hhh–1.md?p=5) Service, and for other purposes,” approved August 25, 1916 (39 Stat. 535),[^1] as amended.
- (b) In order to provide for the proper development and maintenance of the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior shall construct and maintain therein such roads, trails, markers, buildings, and other improvements, and such facilities for the care and accommodation of visitors, as he may deem necessary.

# §430dd. Dedication


[Sections 430aa to 430ee](/usc/16/430aa..430ee.md) of this title shall become effective if and when the requirements of sections [430aa](/usc/16/430aa.md) and [430bb](/usc/16/430bb.md) of this title shall have been fully complied with to the satisfaction of the President of the United States, who shall then issue a notice declaring that the requirements herein have been met, and said notice shall formally dedicate and set aside the [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) transferred to the United States in accordance with the provisions of [section 430aa of this title](/usc/16/430aa.md).


# §430ee. Authorization of appropriations


There are authorized to be appropriated such sums as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of [sections 430aa to 430ee](/usc/16/430aa..430ee.md) of this title.
