# §410qq–3. “Native American Samoan” defined


For purposes of this subchapter the term “[native](/usc/16/3102.md?p=16) American Samoan” means a [person](/usc/16/450rr–1.md?p=b) who is a citizen or national of the United States and who is a lineal descendant of an inhabitant of the Samoan Islands on April 18, 1900. For purposes of this subchapter, Swains Island shall be considered part of the Samoan Islands.
