# §410mm–2. Acquisition of land

- (a) The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) may [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) land or interests in land within the boundaries of the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange, but no such lands or interests therein may be acquired without the consent of the [owner](/usc/16/429b–3.md?p=4) thereof. Lands owned by the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Nevada or any political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof may be acquired only by donation or exchange.
- (b) Lands and waters, and interests therein, within the boundaries of the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) which were administered by the Forest Service, United States Department of Agriculture prior to October 27, 1986, are hereby transferred to the administrative jurisdiction of the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) to be administered in accordance with this subchapter. The boundaries of the Humboldt National Forest shall be adjusted accordingly.
