# §410g. Rules and regulations governing reservation rights


Any reservations retained under the provisions of subsection (1) of [section 410e of this title](/usc/16/410e.md) shall be exercised by the [owners](/usc/16/429b–3.md?p=4) subject to reasonable rules and regulations which the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) may prescribe for the protection of the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), but which shall permit the reserved rights to be exercised so that the oil, gas, and minerals may be explored for, developed, extracted, and removed from the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) in accordance with sound conservation practices. All operations shall be carried on under such regulations as the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) may prescribe to protect the lands and [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) for [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) purposes.
