# §409f. Jurisdiction of New Jersey in civil, criminal and legislative matters retained; citizenship unaffected


Nothing in this subchapter shall be held to deprive the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of New Jersey, or any political [subdivision](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=15) thereof, of its civil and criminal jurisdiction in and over the [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) included in said national historical [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), nor shall this subchapter in any way impair or affect the rights of citizenship of any resident therein; and save and except as the consent of the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of New Jersey may be hereafter given, the legislative authority of said [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) in and over all [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) included within such national historical [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) shall not be diminished or affected by the creation of said [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), nor by any terms and provisions of this subchapter.
