# §403i. Secretary of the Interior authorized to purchase necessary lands


The [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized to [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) on behalf of the United States by purchase, at prices deemed by him to be reasonable, the lands needed to complete the Great Smoky Mountains National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) in the [State](/usc/16/590q.md?p=a) of Tennessee, in accordance with the provisions of sections [403](/usc/16/403.md) and [403a](/usc/16/403a.md) to [403c](/usc/16/403c.md) of this title; and the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is further authorized, when in his opinion unreasonable prices are asked for any of such lands, to [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) the same by condemnation under the provisions of [section 3113 of title 40](/usc/40/3113.md).
