# §396c. Land acquisition; authorization of appropriations

- (a) Notwithstanding any limitations on land [acquisition](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) as provided by sections [391b](/usc/16/391b.md), [391b–1](/usc/16/391b–1.md), [392b](/usc/16/392b.md), [392c](/usc/16/392c.md), [396](/usc/16/396.md), and [396a](/usc/16/396a.md) of this title, the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior may [acquire](/usc/16/620e.md?p=1) for [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) any land on the island of Maui within the boundaries of the [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) generally depicted on the [map](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=1) entitled “Haleakala̅ National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), Segment 03,” numbered 162–30,000–G, and dated May 1972, by donation, purchase with donated or appropriated funds, or exchange. The [map](/usc/16/430f–7.md?p=1) shall be on file and available for public inspection in the offices of the National [Park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) Service, Department of the Interior.
- (b) There is authorized to be appropriated such sums but not to exceed $920,000 as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this section.
