# §3839aa–6. Duties of the Secretary


To the extent appropriate, the [Secretary](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-21) shall assist a producer in achieving the conservation and environmental goals of a [program](/usc/16/3839aa–1.md?p=8) plan by—

- (1) providing [payments](/usc/16/3839aa–1.md?p=5) for developing and implementing 1 or more [practices](/usc/16/3839aa–1.md?p=6), as appropriate; and
- (2) providing the producer with information and training to aid in implementation of the plan.
