# §3823. Affiliated persons


If a [person](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-19) is affected by a reduction in benefits under [section 3821 of this title](/usc/16/3821.md) and the affected [person](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-19) is affiliated with other [persons](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-19) for the purpose of receiving the benefits, the benefits of each affiliated [person](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-19) shall be reduced under [section 3821 of this title](/usc/16/3821.md) in proportion to the interest held by the affiliated [person](/usc/16/3801.md?p=a-19).
