# §3742. Purposes


The purposes of this chapter are to establish a partnership among the United States [Fish and Wildlife](/usc/16/3743.md?p=3) Service, [designated State agencies](/usc/16/3743.md?p=2), and private organizations and individuals—

- (1) to carry out [wildlife conservation and appreciation projects](/usc/16/3743.md?p=9) to [conserve](/usc/16/3743.md?p=1) the entire array of diverse [fish and wildlife](/usc/16/3743.md?p=3) species in the United States and to provide opportunities for the public to use and enjoy these [fish and wildlife](/usc/16/3743.md?p=3) species through [nonconsumptive activities](/usc/16/3743.md?p=6);
- (2) to enable [designated State agencies](/usc/16/3743.md?p=2) to respond more fully and utilize their statutory and administrative authorities by carrying out [wildlife conservation and appreciation projects](/usc/16/3743.md?p=9); and
- (3) to encourage private donations, under the leadership of the [States](/usc/16/544.md?p=r) and of the [National Fish and Wildlife Foundation](/usc/16/3743.md?p=5), to carry out [wildlife conservation and appreciation projects](/usc/16/3743.md?p=9).
