# §3608. Authorization of appropriations


There are authorized to be appropriated from time to time such sums as may be necessary for carrying out the purposes and provisions of the [Convention](/usc/16/3601.md?p=4) and this chapter including—

- (1) necessary travel expenses of the [Commissioners](/usc/16/3601.md?p=3) and alternate [Commissioners](/usc/16/3601.md?p=3) in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation and sections [5701](/usc/5/5701.md), [5702](/usc/5/5702.md), [5704](/usc/5/5704.md) through [5708](/usc/5/5708.md), and [5731](/usc/5/5731.md) of title 5; and
- (2) the United States contribution to the [Organization](/usc/16/3601.md?p=7) as provided in Article 16 of the [Convention](/usc/16/3601.md?p=4), not to exceed $50,000 for fiscal year 1983, and not to exceed, for each succeeding fiscal year, the amount assessed by the [Organization](/usc/16/3601.md?p=7) for the United States for such year.
