# §3325. Authorization of appropriations

- (a) **Salmon enhancement—** For purposes of carrying out the provisions of this subchapter for [salmon](/usc/16/3302.md?p=11) [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) (including, but not limited to, the operation and maintenance of [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) facilities) there are authorized to be appropriated not to exceed $45,000,000 for the ten-year period beginning on October 1, 1982, for the [Washington conservation area](/usc/16/3302.md?p=17), and not to exceed $25,000,000 for the ten-year period beginning on such date for the [Columbia River conservation area](/usc/16/3302.md?p=4).
- (b) **Steelhead enhancement—** In [addition](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-2) to the amounts authorized under [subsection (a)](#a), there are authorized to be appropriated to carry out [steelhead](/usc/16/3302.md?p=13) [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) [projects](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-4) under this subchapter (including, but not limited to, operation and maintenance of [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) facilities) not to exceed $7,000,000 for the ten-year period beginning on October 1, 1982, for the [Washington conservation area](/usc/16/3302.md?p=17); and not to exceed $7,000,000 for the ten-year period beginning on such date for the [Columbia River conservation area](/usc/16/3302.md?p=4).
- (c) **Limitation—** No moneys appropriated pursuant to subsection [(a)](#a) or [(b)](#b) may be used for the operation and maintenance of [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) programs and related facilities as they existed on or before the date of the approval by the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) under [section 3321 of this title](/usc/16/3321.md) of the [enhancement](/usc/16/3302.md?p=8) plan for the conservation [area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) concerned.
