# §2406. Notification of travel to Antarctica


The Secretary of State shall prescribe such regulations as may be necessary and appropriate to implement, with respect to [United States](/usc/16/2402.md?p=22) citizens, paragraph 5 of Article VII of the [Treaty](/usc/16/2402.md?p=21) pertaining to the filing of advance notifications of expeditions to, and within, [Antarctica](/usc/16/2402.md?p=2). For purposes of this section, the term “[United States](/usc/16/2402.md?p=22) citizen” shall include any foreign [person](/usc/16/2402.md?p=14) who organizes within the [United States](/usc/16/2402.md?p=22) any expedition which will proceed to [Antarctica](/usc/16/2402.md?p=2) from the [United States](/usc/16/2402.md?p=22).
