# §227. Utilization of areas for Government reclamation projects


Whenever consistent with the primary purposes of such [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3), the [Secretary](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-1) of the Interior is authorized to permit the utilization of those [areas](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) formerly within the Lake Mead National Recreation [Area](/usc/16/539m–1.md?p=1-A) immediately prior to January 3, 1975, and added to the [park](/usc/16/410r–5.md?p=c-3) by sections [228a](/usc/16/228a.md) to [228j](/usc/16/228j.md) of this title, which may be necessary for the development and maintenance of a Government [reclamation project](/usc/16/460l–32.md?p=3).
