# §6304. Safety standards


No [person](/usc/15/7a.md?p=6) may arrange, promote, organize, produce, or fight in a [professional boxing match](/usc/15/6301.md?p=8) without meeting each of the following requirements or an alternative requirement in effect under regulations of a [boxing commission](/usc/15/6301.md?p=2-A) that provides equivalent protection of the health and safety of [boxers](/usc/15/6301.md?p=1):

- (1) A physical examination of each [boxer](/usc/15/6301.md?p=1) by a [physician](/usc/15/6301.md?p=7) certifying whether or not the [boxer](/usc/15/6301.md?p=1) is physically fit to safely compete, copies of which must be provided to the [boxing commission](/usc/15/6301.md?p=2-A).
- (2) Except as otherwise expressly provided under regulation of a [boxing commission](/usc/15/6301.md?p=2-A) promulgated subsequent to October 9, 1996, an ambulance or medical personnel with appropriate resuscitation equipment continuously present on site.
- (3) A [physician](/usc/15/6301.md?p=7) continuously present at ringside.
- (4) Health insurance for each [boxer](/usc/15/6301.md?p=1) to provide medical coverage for any injuries sustained in the match.
