# §5411b. Applicability


The requirements of this chapter shall be applicable only to [fasteners](/usc/15/5402.md?p=6) fabricated 180 days or more after June 8, 1999, except that if a [manufacturer](/usc/15/5402.md?p=11) or [distributor](/usc/15/5402.md?p=5) of [fasteners](/usc/15/5402.md?p=6) fabricated before June 8, 1999, prepares a [record of conformance](/usc/15/5402.md?p=13) for such [fasteners](/usc/15/5402.md?p=6), representations about such [fasteners](/usc/15/5402.md?p=6) shall be subject to the requirements of this chapter.
