# §1675. Exemption for State-regulated garnishments


The [Secretary](/usc/15/1602.md?p=dd-6) of Labor may by regulation exempt from the provisions of [section 1673(a)](/usc/15/1673.md?p=a) and (b)(2) of this title [garnishments](/usc/15/1672.md?p=c) issued under the laws of any [State](/usc/15/1602.md?p=s) if he determines that the laws of that [State](/usc/15/1602.md?p=s) provide restrictions on [garnishment](/usc/15/1672.md?p=c) which are substantially similar to those provided in [section 1673(a)](/usc/15/1673.md?p=a) and (b)(2) of this title.
