# §76. President of bank as member of board; chairman of board


The president of the bank shall be a member of the [board](/usc/12/1861.md?p=b-3) and shall be the chairman thereof, but the [board](/usc/12/1861.md?p=b-3) may designate a [director](/usc/12/5481.md?p=10) in lieu of the president to be chairman of the [board](/usc/12/1861.md?p=b-3), who shall perform such duties as may be designated by the [board](/usc/12/1861.md?p=b-3).
