# §5586. Interim authority of the Secretary

- (a) **In general—** The [Secretary](/usc/12/5301.md?p=14) is authorized to perform the functions of the [Bureau](/usc/12/5301.md?p=4) under this part until the [Director](/usc/12/5341.md?p=1) of the [Bureau](/usc/12/5301.md?p=4) is confirmed by the Senate in accordance with [section 5491 of this title](/usc/12/5491.md).
- (b) **Interim administrative services by the Department of the Treasury—** The Department of the Treasury may provide administrative services necessary to support the [Bureau](/usc/12/5301.md?p=4) before the [designated transfer date](/usc/12/5481.md?p=9).
