# §4603. Transition


Before the expiration of the period ending 18 months after the appointment of the [Director](/usc/12/4502.md?p=9) under [section 4512 of this title](/usc/12/4512.md), any rules and regulations promulgated before October 28, 1992, by the [Secretary](/usc/12/1715z–22a.md?p=4) pursuant to the Federal National [Mortgage](/usc/12/1707.md?p=a) Association Charter Act [[12 U.S.C. 1716](/usc/12/1716.md) et seq.] or the Federal Home Loan [Mortgage](/usc/12/1707.md?p=a) Corporation Act [[12 U.S.C. 1451](/usc/12/1451.md) et seq.] shall remain in effect unless modified, terminated, superseded, or revoked by operation of law or in accordance with law. Such rules and regulations shall terminate, effective upon the expiration of such period.
