# §765. Customer instructions

- (a) The notice required by [section 342 of this title](/usc/11/342.md) to [customers](/usc/11/761.md?p=9) shall instruct each [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9)—
  - (1) to file a proof of such [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9)’s [claim](/usc/11/101.md?p=5) promptly, and to specify in such [claim](/usc/11/101.md?p=5) any specifically identifiable [security](/usc/11/101.md?p=49), property, or [commodity contract](/usc/11/761.md?p=4); and
  - (2) to instruct the trustee of such [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9)’s desired disposition, including [transfer](/usc/11/101.md?p=54) under [section 766 of this title](/usc/11/766.md) or liquidation, of any [commodity contract](/usc/11/761.md?p=4) specifically identified to such [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9).
- (b) The trustee shall comply, to the extent practicable, with any instruction received from a [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9) regarding such [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9)’s desired disposition of any [commodity contract](/usc/11/761.md?p=4) specifically identified to such [customer](/usc/11/761.md?p=9). If the trustee has transferred, under [section 766 of this title](/usc/11/766.md), such a [commodity contract](/usc/11/761.md?p=4), the trustee shall transmit any such instruction to the [commodity broker](/usc/11/101.md?p=6) to whom such [commodity contract](/usc/11/761.md?p=4) was so transferred.
