# §9438. Civilian faculty: number; compensation

- (a) The [Secretary](/usc/10/9511.md?p=10) of the Air Force may employ as many civilians as professors, instructors, and lecturers at the Academy as the [Secretary](/usc/10/9511.md?p=10) considers necessary.
- (b) The compensation of [persons](/usc/10/9511.md?p=1) employed under this section is as prescribed by the [Secretary](/usc/10/9511.md?p=10).
- (c) The [Secretary](/usc/10/9511.md?p=10) of the Air Force may, notwithstanding the provisions of subchapter V of [chapter 55](/usc/5/chptIII/sptD/ch55.md) of title 5 or [section 6101](/usc/10/6101.md) of such title, prescribe for [persons](/usc/10/9511.md?p=1) employed under this section the following:
  - (1) The work schedule, including hours of work and tours of duty, set forth with such specificity and other characteristics as the [Secretary](/usc/10/9511.md?p=10) determines appropriate.
  - (2) Any premium [pay](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-15) or compensatory time off for hours of work or tours of duty in excess of the regularly scheduled hours or tours of duty.
