# §9413. United States Air Force Institute of Technology: establishment


There is in the [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6) of the Air Force a [United States](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-1) Air Force Institute of Technology, the purposes of which are to perform research and to provide, to members of the Air Force and Space Force (including the [reserve](/usc/10/101.md?p=c-6) components) and civilian employees of such [Department](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-6), advanced instruction and technical education regarding their duties.
