# §8679a. Contracting with shipyards controlled by a foreign adversary country: prohibition


The [Secretary](/usc/10/8720.md?p=4) of Defense may not enter into any contract or other agreement with a shipyard determined by the [Secretary](/usc/10/8720.md?p=4) of Defense to be under the ownership, control, or influence of a covered nation, as defined in [section 4872(f) of this title](/usc/10/4872.md?p=f).
