# §8082a. Deputy Chief of Chaplains


The [Secretary](/usc/10/8720.md?p=4) of the [Navy](/usc/10/8001.md?p=a-1) may detail as the Deputy Chief of Chaplains an [officer](/usc/10/8001.md?p=a-5) of the Chaplain Corps in the [grade](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-7) of commander or above who is on [active duty](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-1) and who has served on [active duty](/usc/10/101.md?p=d-1) in the Chaplain Corps for at least eight years.
