# §807. Art. 7. Apprehension

- (a) Apprehension is the taking of a [person](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) into custody.
- (b) Any [person](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) authorized under regulations governing the [armed forces](/usc/10/101.md?p=a-4) to apprehend [persons](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) subject to this chapter or to trial thereunder may do so upon reasonable belief that an offense has been committed and that the [person](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) apprehended committed it.
- (c) [Commissioned officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-2), [warrant officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-3), petty [officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-1), and noncommissioned officers have authority to quell quarrels, frays, and disorders among [persons](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) subject to this chapter and to apprehend [persons](/usc/10/2700.md?p=2) subject to this chapter who take part therein.
