# §8048. Medical Officer of the Marine Corps

- (a) There is a [Medical Officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-14) of the [Marine Corps](/usc/10/8001.md?p=a-2) who shall be appointed from among [flag officers](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-5) of the [Navy](/usc/10/8001.md?p=a-1).
- (b) The [Medical Officer](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-14) of the [Marine Corps](/usc/10/8001.md?p=a-2), while so serving, shall hold the [grade](/usc/10/101.md?p=b-7) of rear admiral (lower half).
